Why do we?

Summer sleep, rainy talks
Falling leaves, cold blankets
Seasons change. So do we.

Lazy walks, school socks
Scribble pads, chewed pens
Seasons change. So do we.

Red roses, touchy cards
Long letters, shy tears
Seasons change. So do we.

Why do we?

Because change is the only constant thing in life.

Nostalgia in simple words. Beautiful!

Childhood nostalgia dripping all around....If we didn't change, this post would have been meaningless.
Which is why we must and hence do change.

My dear Gauri,

I've turned it around my way.

*****

Hot holidays, rainy tears
Rising anger, think pieces
Seasons change. So do we.

Brisk walks, fruit salads,
Early yoga, fading stress
Seasons change. So do we.

Given lectures, slow trains
Dry chapatis, waiting buses
Seasons change. So do we.

So we do.

Warm regards,
- Joe.

Solilo, Neilina, Coffee-- change is constant, yes.. but at times you hope it weren't. it ws at one such moment tht i wrote the poem down

Sujoy-- thanks..and yes, u r right.

Darshan-- i chewed pens, the blue reynolds ones. and gave up after scolding myself how bad the habit was..

Sujata-- u have an answer? :)

What a gem of a poem. So simple and so succinct. It's one of those pieces that make you think I could have written this but the truth is it takes ppl with a special gift to be able to create sth like this. I'm jealous :)

Cute poem. Changes... sometimes there are much more of them than we want, aren't there?

Callopia-- Thanks a lot for those sweet words. Your comment brought a huge, satisfying smile on my face...

Mesjay-- Thanks again, thanks a lot :)

Yes, when we look back (I seem to do a lot of looking back stuff, more than I should allow myself to) you want to go back and stay there, in your sweet-smelling past, sleep with a blanket over your head and shut out everything else.

Summer sleep, rainy talks...I like the play of words and the images they invoke.
